Thursday, 11 October 2007 01:00
The Mercy HealthPlexes in Anderson, Fairfield and Western Hills are teaming up for a HealthPlex membership drive and auction to support Cincinnati Bengal Madieu Williams Foundation. The special membership offer for the Mercy HealthPlex is only a $99 enrollment fee for new membership. The entire $99 enrollment fee will go to support the Madieu Williams Foundation.
Williams, who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, started a foundation a year ago to help improve nutrition and health for low-income and African-American families. To further support the Madieu Williams Foundation, the Mercy HealthPlexes are holding a silent auction and HealthPlex tours at all three facilities. The auctions will be held 6:30-8pm on the following dates - Thursday, October 18th at the Anderson HealthPlex; Thursday, October 25th at the Fairfield HealthPlex and November TBA at Western Hills HealthPlex. These auctions are open to the public.
Madieu Williams will be present to meet, shake hands and sign autographs. The silent auction will include autographed Cincinnati Bengals memorabilia, a free raffle, HealthPlex gift certificates for massage, personal training and more. The HealthPlex will be open for tours and personal trainers will be on hand to answer fitness questions.
Michael Combes, Vice President of the Mercy HealthPlexes, is excited about supporting the Madieu Williams Foundation. “Mercy Health Partners believes in the health of our community and in Madieu Williams and his Foundation. We are proud to be teaming up with him and supporting him on the field and off. Our goal is to raise as much money for the Madieu Williams Foundation as we can.”
The Mercy HealthPlex state-of-the-art facilities include a highly trained team of expert instructors and staff, over 100 group fitness and aquatic classes including yoga, a Junior Olympic lap pool and warm water pool, six indoor tennis courts, NBA-sized basketball court, and indoor track. Amenities for members include a superior locker room with towel service, lounge, sauna, whirlpool and steam room.
The Madieu Williams Foundation, a fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, focuses on health, wellness, nutrition, fitness and education. Through his foundation, Madieu reaches out to youth and teaches them at an early age the importance of a healthy lifestyle through free football clinics and his work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cincinnati.
The Madieu Williams Foundation is now looking to build a playground in the Cincinnati area to get kids outside and active. Working with KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization, the Madieu Williams Foundation would like to bring together children, business and community interests for a new community play space.
